The Building Caretaker plays a vital role in maintaining the church's infrastructure. Regular inspection and maintenance tasks are crucial, alongside prioritizing and reporting issues to the Executive Director. This role requires a thorough understanding of all building systems such as electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and security. Having access to a vehicle will be helpful.
Responsibilities
Regular inspection and maintenance of building system
Housekeeping and organizational tasks
Managing thrift store donations, including sorting and disposal
Ordering and maintaining cleaning supplies
Assessing cleaning standards and addressing deficiencies
Seasonal tasks around the building and grounds
Maintenance and handyman tasks
Coordinating with contractors for more extensive repairs
Occasionally undertaking special maintenance projects
Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with various building systems
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to assess and prioritize maintenance needs
Experience in a similar custodial or maintenance role is preferred
Ability to be personable with people of all ages, especially with seniors
Possess some basic handyman qualities and be a self starter
Hours of Work
This role is a permanent part-time position with flexibility in the hours worked. It can be either 16 hours a week from Monday to Thursday or 20 hours a week from Sunday to Thursday. Except for Sunday, where you would be supporting our worship service, the timing of weekday hours worked is negotiable. Sunday's hours are 8:30am to 12:30pm.
