We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Building Caretaker to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and overall maintenance of our residential facility. This vital role involves providing a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of safety and sanitation. Responsibilities



Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of common areas, resident rooms, and facility spaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. Conduct regular inspections of the building's infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units, addressing minor repairs or escalating issues as needed. Assist with resident mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices, ensuring safety during transfers. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans. Monitor residents' health status by observing for changes in behavior or physical condition; report findings to healthcare professionals promptly. Maintain accurate documentation related to cleaning schedules, maintenance activities, resident observations, and incident reports while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Assist with meal preparation and serving to promote proper nutrition for residents requiring assistance. Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including emergency procedures like fire drills or medical emergencies. Collaborate with healthcare staff to support residents' individual care plans focused on memory care, dementia care, autism support, or hospice needs. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance tools; coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements when necessary. Uphold confidentiality and dignity of residents at all times by practicing respectful caregiving and adhering to privacy standards.

Experience



Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is advantageous. Experience with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care programs or working with individuals with developmental disabilities enhances suitability for this role. Familiarity with caregiving tasks such as assisting with ADLs, medication administration, meal preparation, and implementing care plans is desirable. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or moving supplies. Strong communication skills combined with patience and compassion to support residents' physical and emotional needs. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment dedicated to senior care and social work principles.
