T.Y. Lin International Canada, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Designer in our Vancouver, BC, office. The Bridge Designer provides engineering support to Senior Engineers and Project Managers. The primary scope of this role is to assist in developing high quality bridge and structure designs. This Bridge Designer will have solid knowledge of engineering principles and codes and will have experience with the design and detailing of bridge elements in accordance with the required ACEC classification. This individual must also have the ability to use computer software for bridge analysis and design, will be responsible for assisting in design and plan development tasks, performing structural analysis and design of a variety of bridge structure types. The Bridge Designer will work in a collaborative work environment and be eager to learn from others, strongly value relationships and interaction with people, be able to maintain a balanced perspective about change and adapt when necessary, is an analytical thinker with above-average problem-solving skills and has exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Responsibilities:

  • Has experience in designing concrete and steel bridge structures.
  • Analysis and design of concrete and steel bridge structures.
  • Perform analysis of bridge structures, including complex bridges.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and structural drawings.
  • Develop calculations and designs through all design phases, conceptual to detailed designs.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for development of engineering estimates.
  • Calculate inputs for structural analysis software such as section properties.
  • Assist in preparation of drawings and designs in accordance with company standards and follow QA/QC procedures.
  • Assist in development of engineering studies, reports, and documentation.
  • Assist on bridge inspections as required.
  • Other assignments as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is an asset.
  • Eligible for a Professional Engineering license in British Columbia.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience required.
  • Ability to perform design of complex bridges and their components.
  • Ability to perform structural analysis and designs. Capable of running analysis and design computer software such as CSI Bridge, SOFiSTiK, Larsa or equivalent.
  • Has experience designing concrete and steel bridge structures and elements.
  • Working knowledge of codes such as CAN/CSA S6, AASHTO, ACI, ASCE, etc.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to check drawings.
  • Ability to provide deliverables of high quality and on time.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and engineering software.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective project team collaboration and relationship building.
