Job Description

The Brewer is responsible for executing the full brewing and fermentation process, ensuring the production of high-quality products while maintaining operational efficiency. This role involves both the hot and cold side responsibilities. This role involves working closely with the Head Brewer to ensure that brewing standards are met, along with ensuring accurate inventory management of raw goods.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



Execute the brewing process, including mashing, boiling, fermenting, and conditioning beer, according to established recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor fermentation and conditioning processes to ensure optimal flavor profiles and quality. Track and record fermentation progress, monitor CO2 levels, gravity readings, and temperatures, ensuring all data aligns with quality standards. Maintain cellar cleanliness and sanitation, ensuring all fermentation vessels, hoses, tanks, and fittings are properly cleaned and sanitized after each use. Monitor and adjust beer carbonation levels to meet product specifications. Ensure the beer is properly conditioned before moving on to packaging. Harvest, store, and pitch yeast according to brewing schedules, ensuring yeast health and viability. Maintain accurate records of yeast generations and usage. Safely transfer beer between fermentation vessels and other conditioning equipment, ensuring that appropriate filtration methods are used when necessary. Conduct regular quality checks throughout the brewing process, as determined by the Head Brewer, ensuring compliance with established quality standards and protocols Maintain brewing equipment, including cleaning, sanitizing, and troubleshooting any issues to ensure operational efficiency. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Head Brewer promptly. Monitor and manage raw materials inventory, ensuring accurate reporting to Head Brewer Accurately record brewing processes, including batch data, ingredient usage, and quality control results. Prepare production and inventory reports for the Head Brewer Work closely with the production team to maintain a clean and organized brewing environment and contribute ideas for improvements. Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment. Participate in training sessions related to safety, sanitation, and brewing techniques.

JOB REQUIREMENTS



Education & Experience:



Degree in Brewing Science, Food Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a brewery environment, with a strong understanding of brewing processes and techniques.

Skills & Competencies:



Proficient in using brewing equipment and understanding brewing and fermentation principles. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and teamwork orientation. Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control standards in the brewing industry. Familiarity with brewery safety protocols and equipment maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems under pressure. Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Full-time position Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm with occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed This is an in-person position Must stand for extended periods of time Must regularly lift and maneuver weights of 100lbs or more
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
