FULL JOB DESCRIPTION: BREWER (NOC 0911)
At Small Gods Brewing Co., the Brewer is a management position that works under the direction of the Head Brewer and the Head of Production to plan, organize, manage, and evaluate the operations of the brewery and the alcoholic beverage manufacturing process. Specifically, the Brewer will manage brewing and packaging of product; cleaning and maintaining of the brewery, canning room, and warehouse and the equipment within those spaces. The Brewer will also assist with distribution and deliveries; tours, interviews, or staff training sessions; and pouring or speaking at prominent beer industry events.
As with any small business, every week brings new challenges and each team member's contribution to solving those challenges is absolutely critical to the smooth operation of the company as a whole. The Production team may be called upon to perform varied duties to assist with whatever priority issues arise, whether that be in Production, Sales, Distribution, or even in the Taproom on rare occasions. Therefore this role requires a flexible, team-oriented, can-do attitude to help in whatever capacity best serves the business at that moment in time.
That said, the majority of the time, Production work is focused, detail-oriented, and mostly self-directed. The Brewer will need to be mechanically inclined, dexterous, comfortable working with large equipment, and serious about safety. The Brewer must be someone who takes the initiative to meet Small Gods' extremely high expectations for brewery cleanliness at all times without being specifically directed to complete tasks. Under the supervision of the Head Brewer and the Head of Production, the Brewer will manage our 10HL Specific Mechanical steam-jacket brewhouse along with eight fermentation vessels and two bright tanks, as well as our canning line. The Brewer may be called upon to perform with any aspect of production and distribution, including: product planning, recipe development, brewing, cellaring, ingredient management and inventory, cleaning, packaging, moving and organizing product, distribution and deliveries, scheduling, providing brewery tours, making customers feel welcome, and completing other tasks associated with the operations and management of a small craft brewery. Attitude and capacity are more important than extensive experience in every facet of the job and training will be provided where required.
