Job Description

We are looking to hire a Brand & Communications Manager to join our Marketing team! This role supports the Director of Brand & Communications in delivering integrated messaging and brand consistency for Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Grand Hotel. This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of communications strategies, ensuring consistent tone, storytelling, and messaging across owned, earned, and shared media. The Manager leads the development of written content, media relations, and guest/internal communications, while overseeing social media, newsletters, and media monitoring. Compensation Information:

$75,000 to $80,000 per annum

Physical Requirement:

Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, PR, journalism, or digital media, preferably in tourism, hospitality, or resort industries. Experience leading a team with direct reports. Strong writing, editing, and content development skills across digital and print platforms. Hands-on experience with social media channel management, content creation, and engagement. Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and draft press materials. Familiarity with email newsletter platforms and communications technology tools. Strong organizational and project management skills; proven ability to handle multiple priorities. Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with creative, digital, marketing, and operational teams to achieve shared goals. Experience coordinating crisis communications and reputation management preferred. Knowledge of analytics tools for tracking communications performance. A passion for outdoor recreation (skiing, snowboarding, biking, golfing) considered an asset. Must be able to ski or snowboard confidently. Valid driver's license.

Primary Responsibilities:

Brand Strategy & Messaging Execution:


Translate brand strategy into actionable communications plans across owned, earned, and shared media. Craft and edit copy for campaigns, press releases, newsletters, blogs, social, and web, ensuring brand voice and consistency. Develop messaging frameworks and content calendars that support seasonal campaigns and corporate initiatives. Ensure in-resort communications (signage, guest messaging, village touchpoints) align with brand standards. Coordinate brand direction with internal departments, Tourism Sun Peaks, and external partners to ensure alignment across all initiatives. Collaborate with the Creative Manager on creative direction, campaign execution, and event-related communications. Work in partnership with the Web & E-commerce Manager on website copy, product launches, and campaign landing pages.

Media & Public Relations:


In partnership with the Director, manage media relations, including drafting and distributing press releases, coordinating interviews, and maintaining media lists. Support proactive earned media opportunities while monitoring coverage to track brand reputation. Assist with community relations and stakeholder communications to support local engagement.

Digital & Social Media:


Manage daily operations of all SPR and SPG social media channels, the Meltwater platform, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement. Collaborate with the Marketing team members on campaign alignment, ensuring organic social reflects paid initiatives while protecting brand integrity. Oversee newsletters (messaging-driven), ensuring timely, brand-consistent distribution.

Internal & Guest Communications:


Coordinate internal messaging, newsletters, and employee updates in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator. Oversee guest-facing communications such as operational updates, event messaging, and crisis response notices. Support community and partner communications to reinforce positive relationships. Oversee the Internal Communications and Collaboration Platform: Alpine Connect 2.0 (Beekeeper).

Crisis & Issue Response:


Maintain crisis communications protocols and issue management playbooks, ensuring readiness for rapid response. Draft holding statements, FAQs, and response content under direction of the Director.

Team Leadership:


Supervise and mentor coordinators and specialists within the brand & communications function (Digital Media, Communications, Communications Technology). Provide day-to-day project oversight, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Report progress, risks, and recommendations to the Director of Brand & Communications.
