Keep financial records for each transaction in accordance with Law Society requirements
Balance and reconcile month end reports/bank account/ledgers in accordance with Law Society requirements
Balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems;
Record and post transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll;
Prepare and issue invoices in accordance with established procedures;
Prepare cheques for utilities, tax and other bills;
Complete and submit tax remittance forms;
Prepare accounting summaries and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information; note & report discrepancies found in records and prepare trial balances of books
Operate computers equipped with accounting software to record financial information, invoices, & fee receipts
Maintain and balance various accounts and check all figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
Calculate, prepare bank deposits and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
Knowledge of relevant computer applications, PCLaw, Quickbooks, Cosmolex
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Experience: 3-5 years legal bookkeeping. Must have working knowledge of one or more of PCLaw, Cosmolex, LEAP, Quickbooks Online or Quickbooks desktop software. Education: College program in Bookkeeping/Accounting/Business or any related field Language Requirement: English Specific skills:
