Bookkeeper/accounting Clerk

Job Description

We are an experienced and prestigious boutique law firm located in the lower Fraser Valley, specializing in Family Law. We benefit from a dynamic group of lawyers with an amazing and efficient team of dedicated legal support staff. We believe working together ensures our clients the best service available. Currently, we are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive bookkeeper/accounting clerk to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1+ years bookkeeping/accounting experience . Enjoys working in a fast paced environment and is a motivated self-starter. Experience in trust accounting would be an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to

• Prepare monthly Financial reports
• Prepare, Review and post month-end journal entries
• Assist with account reconciliations
• Process accounts payable transactions and vendor payments
• Manage expense and disbursement processing
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Print and prepare pre-bills for lawyers' review.
• Markup and correct billing entries, adhering to client billing guidelines and Firm standards.
• Prepare, post, and issue invoices as per lawyer's instructions.
• Monitor WIP and coordinate with lawyers for timely billing.
• Receive incoming payment calls and post accordingly.
• Act as a liaison for billing queries.
• Maintain records according to Firm standards.
• Assist with collections of outstanding accounts.
• Occasional bank runs.
• Maintain client confidentiality.

Other Administrative Tasks as required include, but not limited to

• Answering overflow incoming calls, booking consults and appointments
• Scanning, printing and copying documents as require
• Acting as a courier agent for filing documents
• Preparing and building binders for trail, mediation or hearings
• Ad-Hoc tasks as required by the firm

Required Skills and Proficiencies

• Excellent command of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems
• Reliable and able to work with minimal direction and instructions.
• Manage, organize, and prioritize work independently.
• Have excellent written and oral English communication skills.
• Take initiative and have a strong work ethic.
• Highly organized with precise attention to details.
• Able to maintain excellent working relationships with all staff.
• Knowledge of Cosmolex Practice Management Software an asset.
