The Blossom Coordinator will be responsible for the recreational needs of a specific group of residents as well as portering those residents to their meals. The Blossom coordinator is responsible for creating monthly calendars based upon the needs of the residents in their group. The Blossom Coordinator is solely responsible for providing the families of their residents with periodic updates regarding their activity attendance and overall wellbeing. The Blossom Coordinator will work closely alongside the Wellness Manager to include residents in special events and ensure Blossom documentation is complying.Responsibilities

  • Engage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs, and abilities
  • Facilitating resident recreation assessments with the resident and their agent(s)
  • Implement and coordinate programs.
  • Measure and evaluate success of program, redesign as needed
  • Coordinate personalized individual programs and special events
  • Purchase program supplies as needed within the Blossom budget.
  • Coordinate a yearly schedule of special events, lead decorating for special events.
  • Prepare recreation reports as required.
  • Write and publish monthly newsletter and calendar of events, modifying programs based on therapeutic effectxe2x80x99 from residents.
  • Communicate interdepartmentally to advocate for clientxe2x80x99s everchanging needs
  • Oversee the maintenance of recreation equipment and report any concerns.
  • Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience with dementia is required
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve while maintaining clear communication with residents/their agent(s).
  • Experience in facilitating recreation programs is required
  • Completion of Health Care Aide certification is required
  • Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
  • Superior oral and written communication skills including superior computer literacy skills and ability to adapt to new technology
