The Family Faith Formation Coordinator is directly accountable to the Pastor or his designate.
About us:
Immaculate Conception Parish includes the Churches of Immaculate Conception, Truro; Sacred Heart, Millbrook; St Michaels, Brule; St Kateri Tekakwitha, Indian Brook; and St Bridget, Shubenacadie. As the parish reorganizes to meet the needs of our parish community, it has been identified that new and renewed approaches need constant assessment. Servicing a predominantly rural area requires an approach that will include family catechesis, community outreach and creativity in delivering professional and dynamic programming in the role of Family Faith Formation Coordinator.
Job Summary:
The Family Faith Formation Coordinator role is considered a leadership position, which will deal with matters of significance for the long-term spiritual growth of child and youth rearing families in our parish. The coordinator will be responsible for an existing program of age levels, parent involvement, and many volunteers within the parish for the formation of families according to the mission of the parish. Currently, this involves three main areas: Sunday morning Children's Liturgy, family sessions following Sunday Mass, and youth evening on Mondays. These are supported with occasional retreats, liturgical/ministry involvements, communications and family meetings. In addition to the duties listed above, the coordinator will contribute to team meetings, weekly staff prayer, monthly staff meetings, Leadership Gatherings, and participate in significant parish events.
The position is a part-time, one-year (1) contract role that will require an average of 18 hours per week, often on evenings and weekends.
Main responsibilities and duties:
• Coordinate administration with our full-time Parish Office Admin Support.
• Serve as a common point of contact for in-person, Flocknote and telephone inquiries regarding Family Faith Formation.
• Work collaboratively with other ministries.
• Assist with an outreach plan that will enhance a parish community presence.
• Ongoing recruitment, training, and management of the Volunteer Family Faith Formation Team:
• One team will lead and support the Family Faith Formation program on Sunday mornings during and following the 9am Mass and will include teaching, child support, hospitality, and technical support.
• A second team on Monday evenings for Parent and Youth which will include teaching, youth engagement, Youth Alpha and technical support.
• Coordinate and execute special events such as Summer Vacation Bible School, and retreats, and dramas during the year.
• Promote, organize and lead our parish pilgrims for the Steubenville Atlantic Youth Conference.
Qualifications:
• An active participation in their Catholic faith with an understanding and appreciation for core Catholic beliefs, including the centrality of Sunday Mass.
• Completion of a related post-secondary program (administrative or project management or evangelization) or equivalent education and experience.
• A willingness to embrace the Immaculate Conception Parish Vision.
• The leadership skills to recruit, train, and empower a team of unpaid volunteers.
• Experience with children and childhood development.
• Experience working with parents and families.
• Skills in time management and organization to effectively prioritize in a multi-task environment.
• Competency in written and oral communication skills.
• A respect for confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an outstanding level of integrity.
• Humility and teachability as an ongoing learner with a heart for servant leadership.
• Familiarity with technology including telephone systems, church database management systems, website platforms, digital and social media platforms.
• Meet Responsible Ministry criteria: Clear Criminal Records Check & Vulnerable Sector Check.
