Location - This position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote and/or in-office work based on work preferences. We welcome applicants from across Alberta. In the event that you need to work on-site, you may have the flexibility to attend either the Edmonton or Calgary offices based on your location and convenience. Working for the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI)
ABMI is dedicated to tracking changes in biodiversity across the entirety of Alberta for the next 100 years, and this resultant information provides Albertans the ability to make informed decisions about the state of their environment in ways never before possible.
Position Summary
Working in the ABMI's Information Centre, the Biodiversity Reporting Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating updates, maintenance and delivery of biodiversity reporting and analytical products across a breadth of ecological topics, for example, wetlands and habitat mapping, species monitoring of multiple taxonomic groups, and ecological data initiatives. This is a highly collaborative position, serving as the point of connection between multiple internal and external partners.
Duties
The Biodiversity Reporting Coordinator leads and delivers biodiversity reporting projects that mobilize data and insights from the ABMI's monitoring programs. This role involves project management, team coordination, and stakeholder engagement across the full reporting lifecycle.
1. Project Management and Delivery - 50%

  • Leads the planning, development, and maintenance of biodiversity reporting products.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams (scientists, developers, designers, etc.) to meet project goals.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings, tracks tasks, and ensures timely delivery of project outputs.
  • Reviews literature and develops presentation materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Communicates results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
2. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement - 25%
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with government, industry, NGOs, and academia.
  • Engages users to understand their information needs and promote ABMI's knowledge products.
  • Aligns reporting work with ABMI's strategic goals and user requirements.
  • Supports collaboration across ABMI centres to stay current on internal developments.
3. Product Oversight and Leadership - 25%
  • Oversees the maintenance and continuous improvement of biodiversity reporting products.
  • Develops and manages project plans, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Defines roles, allocates resources, and monitors progress using project management tools.
  • Coordinates updates and QA/QC processes to ensure content accuracy and consistency.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental monitoring, ecology, or natural resource management.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging content.
  • Professional experience in writing, research, and editing across various formats (e.g., print, web, video).
  • Skilled at tailoring content for different audiences, including technical and non-technical readers.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time management and collaboration skills.
