Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining compliance with financial standards. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, proficiency with various accounting software, and excellent communication skills. The Billing Clerk plays a crucial role in supporting accounts receivable functions, revenue cycle management, and ensuring timely billing for our clients across healthcare, non-profit, or corporate sectors.

Responsibilities



Prepare and process invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or other financial systems Perform account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of billing data and resolve discrepancies promptly Manage accounts receivable and collections activities, including follow-up on overdue payments and medical collections if applicable Enter data accurately into multiple financial systems while maintaining compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations Generate journal entries and perform bookkeeping tasks related to revenue recognition and expense allocations Assist with the preparation of financial reports and analysis related to billing activities Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, adjustments, and payment histories Support the revenue cycle management process by verifying CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, and other medical billing procedures if applicable Collaborate with other departments such as accounts payable, medical billing teams, or governmental accounting units to ensure seamless financial operations Provide excellent customer service by responding to billing inquiries via phone or email with professionalism and courtesy

Qualifications



Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within public accounting, healthcare, non-profit organizations, or governmental agencies Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, account analysis, and double-entry bookkeeping Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and revenue cycle management is preferred for healthcare-related roles Knowledge of SOX compliance and GAAP standards is highly desirable Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail Strong analytical skills for account reconciliation and financial analysis tasks Effective communication skills including phone etiquette and negotiation abilities for collections or dispute resolution Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with regulatory requirements

Job Type: Part-time
