We currently have an opening in our SRD Underwriting Department in reporting to our Ottawa office for an: Bilingual Underwriter II What can you expect? The Underwriter II will join our team of 25 colleagues in our dynamic SRD Underwriting Department. What is in it for you?

We will count on you to:
  • Reviews and analyzes submissions
  • Identifies and obtains additional information required to conduct a proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments
  • Assesses exposure and determines rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines
  • Negotiates terms and conditions with brokers
  • Signs policies and authorizes transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
  • Prepares and maintains periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation
  • Services current accounts
  • Provides advice and expertise to other underwriters on underwriting issues
  • Develops and maintains an awareness of claims and exposures
  • Maintains an awareness of market conditions, profitability initiatives and competitions
  • IT/Cyber
  • Performs other related duties as requires
What you need to have:
  • Post secondary education in insurance, business administration or related discipline
  • 3-5 years work experience in insurance industry
  • Fluently bilingual in both written and oral French is required
  • Familiarity with the IT sector or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, logical, organized and decisive
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook
