About the role:
The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national exchange program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills (English/French) while gaining important employment experience. Participants, 16 and 17 years of age, travel to another community within Canada - where the other official language predominates - for 6 weeks during the summer. Youth are provided with a homestay and paid employment to deepen the cultural exchange through immersion. They participate in weekly program activities organized by the Local Coordinator in their new community.
The Regional Coordinator will be an important member of the national team delivering this program by ensuring regional participant targets through the development of an effective outreach plan. Each year, the Regional Coordinator will hire, orient, train and supervise Local Coordinators that will directly support exchange participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads. Through the Local Coordinators, the Regional Coordinator will ensure that youth are also provided with an appropriate summer work placement.
The Regional Coordinator is responsible to manage and maintain third party relationships with local employers and local support organizations. The Regional Coordinator promotes YMCA programs to the community, employers, and other individuals and organizations to assist the YMCA in achieving program and strategic outcomes.
Please note this is a bilingual role requiring English and French.
Responsibilities
Promotion and outreach - Develop and implement a regional promotion and communication plan to achieve provincial youth recruitment targets representative of the demographics of Canada
Staffing - Hire, orient, train, support and supervise an effective staff team of Local Coordinators who will directly support participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads
Program delivery - Provide service to participants, hosts/families, employers and the general public in both official languages. Effectively problem-solve issues resolve conflicts as they arise, and keep the Manager informed
Financial management - Follow financial systems and maintain financial reports in line with YMCA policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate submission of invoices, expense forms and statistics to both the local and national offices
Ensure compliance with all terms of the government contribution agreement and contracts including provincial targets, regional expenditure of funds, and financial and statistical reporting
Demonstrate appropriate behaviors in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; take a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner
Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with staff, volunteers and members
Other duties as assigned in support of successful SWSE program
Qualifications & Skills
3 years of experience in program delivery and team leadership/staff management; specific experience with youth programs and/or exchange programs is an asset
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a college diploma or university degree in Youth Work, Education, Social Work or Services, Community Development, or related fields
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and communication with staff, program participants, families, volunteers, community members, and employers
Fluent oral and excellent written communication skills in both French and English
Excellent human resources management skills (such as hiring, performance support, etc.)
Knowledge and ability to integrate anti-racism, anti-oppression, critical disability, LGBTQ2S-positive, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and strengths-based principles into practice
Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
Experience working with budgets is an asset
Knowledge and experience with facilitation, training, and/or experiential learning is an asset
Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and cloud-based technology
Valid driver's license and willingness to drive for work; access to a vehicle is an asset
Ability to work flexible hours and travel for up to one week at a time, several times a year

Nature et portee:
Le programme Emplois d'ete Echanges etudiants est un programme d'echange national qui offre aux jeunes la possibilite d'ameliorer leur connaissance de leur langue seconde officielle (francais/anglais) tout en acquerant une experience de travail pertinente. Les participants, ages de 16 ou 17 ans, vont
vivre dans une autre province canadienne, ou l'autre langue officielle predomine, pendant 6 semaines durant l'ete. Les jeunes vivent dans une famille d'accueil et occupent un emploi remunere afin d'approfondir leur experience interculturelle par le biais d'une immersion. Ils participants a des activites de groupe hebdomadaires organisees par un(e) coordonnateur(trice) local(e).
La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur regional(e) sera un membre important de l'equipe nationale offrant la prestation de ce programme ; cette personne assure l'atteinte des objectifs regionaux de participation a travers le developpement d'un plan de promotion efficace du programme dans les collectivites. Chaque annee, cette personne devra embaucher, orienter, former et superviser les coordonnateurs locaux qui appuieront directement les participants dans leurs communautes d'accueilsi que les coordonnateurs de soutien qui agiront comme chefs d'equipe. A travers les coordonnateurs locaux, la coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur regional(e) veillera a ce que les jeunes recoivent egalement un emploi d'ete approprie.
La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur regional(e) est responsable de gerer et de maintenir les relations avec les tierces parties telles que les employeurs locaux et les organisations de soutien locales. Cette personne fait la promotion des programmes du YMCA aupres de la communaute, des employeurs, et autres personnes et organisations qui peuvent aider le YMCA dans son offre de programme et l'atteinte de resultats strategiques.
Responsabilites
:
Promotion et sensibilisation - Developper et executer un plan de promotion et de communication regional afin d'atteindre les objectifs provinciaux de recrutement des jeunes qui representent la demographie du Canada.
Recrutement du personnel - Embaucher, orienter, former et superviser une equipe efficace de coordonnateurs locaux qui appuieront directement les participants dans leurs communautes d'accueil, ainsi que les coordonnateurs de soutien qui agiront en tant que chefs d'equipe.
Prestation du programme - Appuyer les participants, les familles, les employeurs et le grand public dans les deux langues officielles. Trouver des solutions rapides aux problemes et resoudre les conflits qui se presentent ; informer la gestionnaire nationale et la gestionnaire en chef des operations.
Gestion financiere - Suivre les systemes financiers et assurer le maintien des rapports financiers conformement aux politiques et procedures du YMCA. Assurer la soumission en temps opportun et la precision des factures, des formulaires de depenses et des statistiques au bureau local et national.
Veiller au respect de tous les termes de l'accord de contribution du gouvernement et des contrats, y compris les objectifs provinciaux, les depenses regionales des fonds de contribution et des rapports financiers et statistiques.
Demontrer un comportement approprie conformement a la mission, a la vision et aux valeurs de l'organisme comme en temoignent les competences du YMCA. Adopter une approche ciblee pour ameliorer la comprehension des membres a propos des programmes offerts a travers l'Association. Representer le YMCA et l'Association d'une maniere professionnelle.
Comprendre les obligations legales et l'imperatif moral quant au signalement de mauvais traitements a un service de protection de la jeunesse.
Comprendre l'importance du partenariat entre le personnel et les benevoles du YMCA et integrer la valeur des partenariats philanthropiques et communautaires dans les relations avec le personnel, les benevoles et les membres.
Effectuer toutes autres taches connexes a l'appui de la reussite du programme.
Qualifications
:
Trois ans d'experience en prestation de programme et en gestion d'equipe ou de personnel; une experience liee aux programmes jeunesse et/ou aux programmes d'echange est un atout
Au niveau d'education, formation professionnelle et d'experience equivalent a un diplome universitaire ou collegial en travail aupres des jeunes, education, travail ou service social, developpement communautaires, ou autres domaines connexes
Excellentes competences en relations interpersonnelles et entregent ; capacite a etablir des liens et a communiquer avec le personnel, les participants au programme, les familles, les benevoles, les membres de la communaute, les employeurs
Excellente communication orale et ecrite en anglais et en francais
Excellentes competences en gestion des ressources humaines (p. ex. embauche, soutien a la performance, etc.)
Connaissances et capacite d'integrer/mettre en pratique les principes de l'antiracisme, l'anti- oppression, l'analyse critique en matiere de handicap, l'affirmation des personnes LGBTQ et bi spirituelles, l'approche qui tient compte des traumatismes, la reduction des mefaits, et l'approche basee sur les forces
Un engagement a travailler dans un environnement d'inclusion sociale et a repondre de maniere sensible aux differents besoins des membres selon les dimensions visibles et invisibles de la diversite
De l'experience budgetaire ou financiere est un atout
De l'experience en animation, formation, et/ou apprentissage experientiel est un atout
Capable d'utiliser Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, et la technologie infonuagique (le cloud )
Un permis de conduire valide et la volonte de se deplacer en voiture pour le travail ; avoir acces a un vehicule est un atout
Doit etre en mesure de travailler des heures flexibles et voyager jusqu'a une semaine a la fois, plusieurs fois par annee.
