Summary:
The Demand Forecasting Manager plays a strategic role within the Metro supply chain process. This role is responsible for developing a demand plan based on business trends and demand patterns as well as forecast accuracy goals crucial to maintaining service and financial predictability, while striving to improve processes and tools to support these goals. This individual will work across business units to understand upcoming business requirements regarding product forecasting and flow of goods, connecting planning with execution. The position is responsible for driving planning and forecasting initiatives to improve in-stock and ensure healthy stock levels in the organization. In addition to these responsibilities, the Demand Forecasting Manager acts as the leader to a team of Demand Specialists to achieve best-in-class forecasting and fulfill company/supply chain objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Create strategy and alignment on forecasting process and demand parameters to achieve corporate supply chain goals.
  • Provide operational project management in the implementation of demand planning practices and systems.
  • Oversee the design and preparation of the forecast reporting and analysis tools for all phases of the forecasting process
  • Create process to monitor demand planning errors and achieves continuous improvement goals on demand plan bias and error
  • Develop key reporting metrics (KPI) to various business units and leadership team
  • Develop forecast risk identification tools and effective mitigation plans.
  • Plan team activities to execute demand planning activities
  • Analyze and present cost benefit analytics to Sr Management on forecast modelling. Provide recommendations on product flow and execution within the Supply Chain network
  • Build strong relationship with other business units and Sr Management to develop and ensure business processes execution - as well as provide them with tangible/effective suggestions and strategies
  • Capable of building mathematical/machine learning models (AI) to compensate projects/ forecasting purposes
  • Serves as the product owner for the forecasting system
  • Manage employee recruitment, performance evaluation, and retention activities
  • Follow best in class and emerging trends in Supply Chain Forecasting analytics; identify process/software improvement opportunities, recommend solutions and actively participate in its execution
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in demand forecasting or supply chain replenishment in an environment with high numbers of store/sku records.
  • University Degree in Supply Chain Management /Economics /Business /Engineering /Business Technology - Masters Degree is preferred
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of retail forecasting and experience with SAP forecasting systems or other "best in class" platforms is a must.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and/or SQL,Python, Alteryx or equivalent modelling tools, and on graphic tools such as power BI
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with financial and quantitative analysis
  • Critical thinking and proficiency in business process evaluation and procedure development; demonstrates a thorough knowledge of methodologies and standards for requirements gathering, documentation and analysis.
  • Excellent presentation skills; capable of delivering key messages to sr. management including the ability to influence decisions
  • Bilingual (English / French) required
  • Work weekends as necessary
  • Travel within both Ontario and Quebec provinces as required
