Our Summer Student program runs each year from May to August, offering summer employment to students currently enrolled or recently graduated from applicable post-secondary studies. This program is funded by the federal government run Canada Summer Jobs Grant which requires successful candidates be 30 years of age or younger and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

We are looking for: a full-time, contract Hospice and Bereavement Student (May to August 2023)

Hours of Work: 34 hours/week. M-T 8:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. Hybrid work from home.

Reports to: Manager, Social Work

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new clients and complete initial assessments
  • Provide supportive counseling
  • Develop care plans for clients and families
  • Complete Hospice training
  • Assist with developing educational materials
  • Participate in outreach and marketing activities
  • Escort clients to medical appointments and delivery groceries
  • Provide training to clients on the use of tablets
  • Assist with organization and delivery of educational and social programs (LGT)
Qualifications

  • Two years\xe2\x80\x99 completion of a BSW or SSW program OR one year completion of a MSW program
  • Some experience with geriatric population and end of life an asset
  • Russian speaking an asset but not required
