We are seeking to fill an actuarial student co-op role in our downtown Toronto location. Start and end time of this opportunity are flexible, but will ideally encompass a minimum of 4 consecutive months from September through December.

The Actuarial Student Co-op role will focus on supporting the robust experience analysis process as well as the Bermuda regulatory reporting process. This role will have the opportunity to work with various departments across the organization in all locations. Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual experience analysis process, including gathering of data, updating excel model inputs, compiling output, and summarizing results in presentable format for senior and executive management.
  • Assist with the production and reporting of Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) results.
  • Contribute to enhancing assumption documentation across all business, including company memos and excel tables.
  • Ensure proper controls are built and completed to maintain a strong control environment .
  • Perform in-depth model output audit to ensure consistency with input assumptions.
  • Work with other team members and aid in ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Pursuit of a four-year degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written English language skills required.
  • Commitment to actuarial exam progress and attainment of FSA or FCIA designation.
  • Experience with manipulation and analysis of large data sets preferred.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, SAS, and PowerQuery a bonus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel) required.
