Within this context, the Base Administrator will help manage, coordinate and monitor the overall operations at base level. Reporting to the Manager, Base Operations the primary focus of this role will be providing support to staff consisting of paramedics, on a day-to-day basis by ensuring effective utilization of resources.
The position is primarily positioned out of Greater Toronto Area, Critical Care Land Ambulance (CCLA) Base located in the area of Bramalea Road and Derry Road East in Mississauga. The successful candidate will also travel to the Peterborough CCLA Base as required. Travel to Peterborough, or any other Ornge location is compensated in accordance with Ornge Policy and Procedures.
Responsibilities:
Providing day-to-day support to staff at the base level; including fostering a safe work environment, teamwork, collaboration and professionalism, and excellence in customer service;
Promote a positive, engaged work environment by modeling professional behavior;
Assists in supporting the frontline staff with administrative tasks (directing and managing staff at the base level;
Assists in the technical operations of the base, including payroll activities as well as inventory management of medications, consumables and equipment;
Communicates effectively to ensure that all stakeholders and partners are kept informed of matters relating to operations;
Promotes and advocates the vision and mission of Ornge internally and externally;
Works collaboratively across the organization to ensure the successful integration of patient care across all departments;
Organize and coordinate internal and external meetings (including videoconference & teleconference) as well as assist in the preparation and distribution of meeting minutes; and
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Completion of a post-secondary program in a related field of interest is preferred;
Minimum 2 years relevant experience in operations or related fields, which may include emergency/disaster response, military, air transport, operations/dispatch centres, or healthcare management.
Excellent mediation and facilitation skills;
Ability to prepare correspondence, write reports, and prepare meeting minutes;
Embraces Ornge's vision, mission and core values statement and demonstrates passion, energy and drive for results;
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet urgent deadlines, while using good judgement in a fast-paced environment;
Proven proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision; and
Ability to employ tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues.
