Job Description

NOMAD Cafe is seeking an exceptional Barista / All-Rounder with a passion for specialty coffee, precision in execution, and an uncompromising standard of hospitality. This role is suited for individuals who understand that consistency, cleanliness, and guest experience are foundational to cafe excellence.

You will be responsible for crafting drinks to standard, managing food and drink prep with attention to detail, and creating a seamless and elevated customer experience. This is not an entry-level position we are looking for someone who leads by example, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-paced, standards-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities



Dial in espresso daily and adjust grinder settings with accuracy based on bean type, weather, and volume. Prepare all espresso, tea, and signature beverages with consistency, speed, and attention to detail. Ensure drink presentation aligns with house standards, from foam to garnish. Assemble sandwiches, small plates, and house-prepped food with precision and cleanliness. Follow all allergen protocols and maintain a deep understanding of menu ingredients and modifications. Provide thoughtful, confident recommendations and upsell when appropriate. Engage guests with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency, even during peak hours. Proactively address concerns or errors with empathy and a solution-focused attitude. Maintain a calm, polished demeanor under pressure and during rush periods. Follow all AHS regulations related to sanitation, food safety, and temperature control. Complete daily cleaning, sanitizing, and logging tasks with diligence. Maintain impeccable personal and station hygiene (clean uniform, tied hair, etc.). Monitor and document fridge/freezer temperatures; escalate anomalies immediately. Accurately manage POS transactions, cash handling, and tip distribution. Follow all opening and closing checklists thoroughly -- including alarm systems, lighting, and equipment shut-down. Restock all supplies and maintain shelves and fridges according to label organization. Keep the bar, food prep area, and floor clean and clutter-free at all times. Support team members during busy periods with clear communication and proactive assistance.

Required Qualifications



Minimum 2 years of specialty coffee experience required. Deep familiarity with milk texturing, espresso extraction, and coffee recipes. Strong food handling knowledge; Food Safe certification preferred. Confident, clear communication and strong emotional intelligence. Proven track record of reliability, punctuality, and accountability in cafe or hospitality settings.

Physical Requirements



Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). Ability to lift 20-30 lbs and move stock as needed. Comfort with repetitive motions (tamping, steaming, cleaning).
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00-$17.00 per hour
