Job Description


Position Overview: As a Bar Back, you play a crucial supporting role in the smooth operation of the bar. The primary responsibility of a Bar Back is to provide essential support to the bartending team by ensuring the bar is adequately stocked, clean and efficiently operating. Your role is integral to the overall customer experience and the success of the establishment.

Starting wage: $20.00/hour

Key Responsibilities:

Bar counts:

  • Ensuring bar inventory counts are accurate from previous events
  • Responsible for doing the daily counts before the bartenders arrive.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of products and glassware
Stocking and replenishing:
  • Ensure the bar is well-stocked with the bar products required for that bar, including juices, garnishes and small wares
  • Replenish ice, restock glasses and other bar essentials during and between bar closing times.
  • Setting up bars for success with preparation of specialty cocktails, garnishes, and glassware.
Organization and cleanliness:
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the bar area.
  • Help during cocktail hour by collecting empty glasses, bottles and used utensils promptly.
  • Keep the bar area and back storage area tidy and organized.
  • Polish cutlery and glasses
Assistance to Bartenders:
  • Assist bartenders in preparing and serving drinks by fetching ingredients and tools.
  • Retrieve and restock items requested by bartenders.
  • Assist with setup of the bar before the start of the shift.
  • Complete side duties and other tasks as assigned by the bartender and service manager
  • Become familiar with all menu and wine selections to assist the bartenders
Customer Service:
  • Be attentive to customers at the bar and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ensure customers have a positive experience by maintaining a clean and organized bar environment.
  • Provide a friendly and informed responses to inquires
Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers and managers.
  • Work with the Stewarding Department to ensure proper levels of equipment
  • Placing requisitions and receive products related to the bar
Adherence to Policies:
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as venue policies and procedures.
  • Uphold Deer Creek\xe2\x80\x99s standards for professionalism and service excellence.
  • Work in compliance with provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a bar or restaurant setting is a plus.
  • Must be SMART serve certified & have your Food Handlers Certificate
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to bend, climb stairs and carry items of heavy weight, up to 40lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic bar operations and drink recipes is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work well under pressure, balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
