Victoria, B.C. Are you an experienced team leader looking for multi-faceted role in the human resources field? Do you thrive in an environment where accountability and legislative mandates drive the work you and your teams produce? Would you enjoy the challenge of managing the business operations of an independent office that helps assure the citizens of British Columbia that they have a merit-based Public Service working for everyone?
The Office if the Merit Commissioner (the Office) is a unique Office in Canada in that it provides independent oversight of hiring in the BC Public Service. The Office conducts random audits, internal staffing reviews, and reviews just-cause dismissals to annually report out the findings to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. This team blends human resources expertise with a discerning eye for process, legislation and fairness. Reporting to the Merit Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner leads the strategic development and conduct of the audit program, leads the dismissal review process program, and manages the conduct and preparation of recommendations for employee-requested staffing reviews. The Deputy develops the Office\xe2\x80\x99s strategic and operational work plans, including the identification and conduct of special audits and studies. The Deputy manages the Office and leads a small group of professionals. Located in downtown Victoria, this role offers a team-focused environment where collaboration is paramount within the immediate team as well as within the other independent offices of the Legislature.
