Summary



Victoria Hills Neighbourhood Association is seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing Ballet Dance Instructor to lead our Ballet Class for children aged 30 months to 10 years old. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with young children and have a strong background in ballet, child development, and teaching in a fun, engaging, and safe environment. This role is perfect for an energetic, creative, and patient individual who enjoys introducing toddlers to the joys of movement and introductory ballet.

Responsibilities



Plan and Lead Classes

: Create and execute fun, age-appropriate dance routines and activities that encourage toddlers to explore movement, rhythm, and coordination. Classes will include basic steps, stretching, creative movement, and interactive music games.

Ensure Safety

: Maintain a safe and welcoming environment where children can explore movement freely. Ensure that all activities are developmentally appropriate and prioritize the physical and emotional safety of each child.

Encourage Creativity and Confidence

: Foster a sense of creativity by allowing children to express themselves through dance and movement while building their confidence and motor skills.

Engage Parents and Caregivers

: Work closely with parents and caregivers during class, providing guidance on how they can support their child's development and participate in the class when necessary.

Support Social and Emotional Growth

: Promote social skills such as taking turns, following instructions, and cooperating with peers, helping children develop important interpersonal skills.

Maintain a Positive and Fun Environment

: Create a warm, friendly, and positive atmosphere that makes children excited about attending class and exploring dance each week.

Requirements



Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting. Strong background in dance with the ability to teach various styles. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with participants and parents. Ability to create a fun and supportive learning environment. Background in early childhood education is an asset. First Aid and CPR an asset. Availability to work Thursday evenings from 5:00pm-7:30pm and/or Saturday mornings from 9:15-9:45am. Willing to work with children between the ages of 30months-10 years old.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
