The Forge is a new, fusion-style bagel bistro that is elevating the bagel scene in Winnipeg by offering unique, hand-formed artisan bagels directly inspired by the traditions of Poland and England. Unlike most bagels made in Winnipeg, our Polishire bagels are labour-intensive and require extensive stretching and hand-shaping to create the delicious, "creamy chew" that bagel aficionados love. We've also curated a premium, custom-blended espresso and coffee that's crafted for those who truly appreciate exceptional flavour. Details

We are seeking a full-time "Bench Baker"to help with our new and growing venture. This back of house role will be based out of our new location at 692 St. Anne's Rd.

The role will start between 4:00am-5:00am and work from Tuesday to Saturday.

Key responsibilities include working closely with the Baking Team and following their established procedures to ensure all baked goods meet quality standards, including taste, texture, and presentation. You will be responsible for assisting with bakery production, quality control, product assembly, and the maintenance of a clean and safe baking environment, while complying with food safety regulations.

Compensation:

Starting salary for base level candidates is between $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year (or an equivalent of $20.00 - 22.00 per hour).

Responsibilities:

Assist with bakery operations and follow established procedures to ensure all baked goods meet quality standards, including taste, texture, and presentation. Help prepare and produce bakery items according to recipes and Head Baker instruction. Assist in the baking preparation process, ensuring that all food is prepared safely and efficiently. Handle food safely and adhere to all food safety guidelines during preparation and storage. Package baked goods attractively for sale while ensuring freshness. Take direction from the Head Baker and execute specific tasks to ensure a smooth workflow in the kitchen. Maintain a clean and organized bakery.

Qualifications:

Previous baking education orexperience. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices including valid Canadian food handler's certificate. Reliable and punctual for early morning start times. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Organization and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Present a clean and well-groomed appearance.
