Overview

We are a small cafe (and soon to be wine bar) located in the downtown business core and we are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our small team as a baker/pastry maker. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic food environment, focusing on creating beautiful and delicious breads, baked goods and desserts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, baking (including yeast breads), a keen eye for detail and a commitment to food safety standards. This position will commence in mid-January.

Responsibilities

-Preparing and Baking Focaccia and Brioche from Scratch

-Preparing for AM Pastry Service (Scones, Muffins, Croissants, etc.)

-Preparing for PM Pastry Service (Loaves, Cookies, Cakes, etc.)

-Assist with preparation of Lunch Sandwiches

-Support for Breakfast and Lunch service during peak hours

-Planning and Implementation of Production Schedule

-Provide Vegan and GF options

Requirements

Prior experience in a related baking or food preparation position is an asset. Some formal culinary education, preferably in baking is preferred. FoodSafe certification and knowledge of food safety standards is required. Strong attention to detail with a creative approach to baking and presentation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards. As this position involves some customer interaction, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be available for 5am start, Monday to Friday at our downtown location. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads as needed. Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
