We are seeking a skilled and passionate Bakery/Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a creative flair for designing and preparing delicious pastries and baked goods, while also ensuring consistent quality and exceptional customer satisfaction. The role will involve both hands-on baking, fermenting, canning, preserving and the ability to manage kitchen operations effectively while maintaining cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Baking & Preparation: Create high-quality baked goods, including bread, cakes,
cookies, pastries, and specialty items.
Recipe Development: Innovate and develop new pastry recipes and seasonal offerings
to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
Quality Control: Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards for flavour,
presentation, and freshness.
Team Collaboration: Work alongside other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen
operations, assisting with prep and ensuring cleanliness and order.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, place orders for ingredients, and
maintain organized storage areas for supplies.
Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the
preparation and storage of food products.
Customer Service: Engage with customers, ensuring that custom orders are completed
according to specifications, and provide professional recommendations when
necessary.
Training & Mentorship: Train junior staff and assist with skill development within the
bakery team.
The Perfect Candidate Would Have:
Experience as a pastry chef or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of pastries
and baked goods is preferred
Culinary degree or equivalent experience in baking and pastry arts preferred.
Deep knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and food safety standards.
Creativity and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt to seasonal trends.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet
deadlines.
Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in bread making, cake decorating and custom orders.
Knowledge of dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegan) and ability to create
appropriate options.
