Reporting to the Vice President Finance, Global Technology & Expenses, the Assistant Vice President, Corporate Segment Finance will be responsible for overseeing and reporting on the financial position of the Corporate Segment as well as managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Executive Team members and their teams. The scope of this role is broad as it encompasses quarterly reporting and annual planning of the operating expenses, investment income, and taxes across each Executive\xe2\x80\x99s org, corporate real estate, and the Corporate Segment overall.

The Assistant Vice President will be a highly motivated leader who will partner across Sun Life business segments as well as efficiently execute on financial management of the segment while delivering value added insights to Finance and Business leaders. This role will manage a team of 3 Directors and their supporting team of finance managers and analysts.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Manage quarterly IFRS 17 reporting process, consolidating results across the Corporate groups to streamline key themes
  • Drive consolidation process for Business and Strategic Plan cycles highlighting key trends and investment impacts
  • Automate reporting processes and eliminate manual adjustments to shorten reporting cycle duration
  • Consolidate and report headcount movements for planning and reporting cycles, including external disclosures
  • Oversee the Corporate Real Estate finance operations and P&L management
  • Partner with Business Groups to understand and validate enterprise-wide Corporate allocations
What you\'ll need to succeed
  • Finance experience and accounting designation (CPA) with 10+ years of Insurance and/or Financial Services industry experience
  • Demonstrate leadership in optimizing reporting and consolidation processes
  • Flexibility in managing changing priorities and evolving timelines for the team
  • Ability to problem solve in partnership with multiple stakeholders across various functions and business segments
  • Experience operating in a multi currency environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and team work activity
  • Attention to detail at multiple layers in an expense management framework
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and Reporting, Tableau applications is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
