Job Description


Job Summary:
UFV\xe2\x80\x99s Centre for Accessibility Services (CAS) provides accommodated invigilation services to UFV students registered with CAS.

The Invigilator will provide invigilation for Fall, Winter, and Summer examinations for scheduled classes. You will be notified of assigned shifts by email or phone and be required to complete timesheets for payroll purposes. There is no guarantee of hours of work under this temporary appointment. Please be advised that the end date of your appointment is subject to change and could be ended earlier or extended based on the Centre for Accessibility Services\xe2\x80\x99 operational or other requirements.

Duties include starting, monitoring, and ending exams at the scheduled time; distributing, collecting, and ensuring the security of all examination materials, and monitoring students completing examinations and ensuring examination protocols are implemented and followed. Invigilators may also be required to set up assistive technology for students and/or provide reader and scribe support.

Qualifications:
Completion of some post-secondary education (minimum 30 credits) combined with related experience.

Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to ensure that reasonable expectations of behaviour are upheld in an examination situation.

Ability to build rapport and adapt quickly while assisting students with diverse needs.

Excellent command of the English language.

Ability to monitor start and end times in accordance with examination requirements and protocols.

Ability to exercise judgment in varying situations where people might be dealing with mental and/or medical health issues.

Ability to react appropriately if a student is found violating examination requirement or the Academic Conduct Policy. Ability to read, scrutinize, and ensure that the correct examination is available.

Ability to check valid student card or picture ID to verify the identity of the student to ensure they are given the correct examination at the right time.

Ability to speak in public and read special instructions to a group of examinees.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict guidelines.

Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Ability to travel between the Abbotsford campus and Chilliwack campus is preferred.

Information and training will be provided on the appropriate processes for examination invigilation.
