Island Technical Installations is a full-service electrical equipment manufacturer specializing in custom electrical equipment design, supply, testing, and commissioning services for low, medium, & high voltage installations. Our staff consists of engineers, electricians, and technicians. We provide services for a spectrum of industries from heavy industry such as mining and marine to commercial and institutional facilities such as universities and hospitals.
ITI seeks a dedicated AutoCAD drafter to support critical processes to the electrical and mechanical engineering group. The successful applicant will play a critical roll to successful project delivery in a multidisciplinary environment and receive exposure to electrical and mechanical design and drafting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Create and update single-line/three-line diagrams, protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, terminal plans, loop drawings, cable schedules, GA/layouts, nameplate schedules, and bill of materials (BOMs).
Generate as-built drawings from redlines and field markups.
Apply and maintain ITI CAD standards (title blocks, layers, line weights, symbols/blocks, revision control).
Participate in internal design reviews and drawing checks; resolve NCRs with Engineering & QA/QC.
Extract and maintain BOMs from drawings; align part numbers with Internal Standards & PDM.
Manage drawing metadata, file naming, and revision history per ITI's document management policy.
Package submittals (PDF sets, native files) and issuances (IFR/IFC/IFA/As-Built).
Work with Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, and Manufacturing to clarify design intent.
Qualifications and Abilities
Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma or drafting certification preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in role primarily utilizing autoCAD (experience with similar software package may be considered depending on applicant proficiency)
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must be a team player, willing to work with others in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Intermediate/advanced computer skills.
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, especially Excel.
Please note that due to the collaborative nature of the position, work will be based in person at ITI's office in Saanichton, B.C. 15 minutes north of Victoria, B.C.
