As a Nucleus Attendant (PSW):



You will be

punctual

and

reliable;

our consumers depend on you and your trustworthy care. Your role is

mobile

, requiring driving in your own vehicle between consumers throughout shifts. You will be comfortable delivering a wide variety of consumer support services, which includes a variety of

personal care assistance

. Controlled acts as activities of daily living (requires specialized training provided by Nucleus) Part of helping our consumers will be some

light housekeeping duties and meal preparation

. You will have regular and easy access to up to date

job related training

. Our service operates 7 days per week, including Holidays.

You must commit to be available to work every other weekend at a minimum, both Saturday and Sunday

.

Successful Candidates will possess:



Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited institution, or equivalent. Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate. Valid Driver's License, Business Use Insurance (2 million in liability coverage) and reliable vehicle. Successful Criminal Background Check and Driver's Abstract as well as validation of auto insurance. PSWs must have, or be able to obtain, an active OPSWA account (with Company support).

Key skills and qualifications we are looking for:



Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to listen and build rapport and trusting relationships. Ability to communicate fluently in English, both oral and written. Ability to lift up to 23 kgs (50lbs) on a repetitive basis and sustain continuous bending, frequent standing, pushing, stretching, sitting, frequent walking, stooping, carrying-one/two hands (Transfer) up to 30 lbs, pull/push whole body/upper body up to 35 lbs, frequent reaching 10"-74" for shelving, cleaning etc., shoulder motion - handling at higher levels, frequent wrist motion - handling/preparing food/wiping down. Good computer skills and use of various electronic communication devices (cell phones, GPS). Demonstrated respect and compassion towards individuals served as well as the ability to provide culturally-sensitive services for consumers with diverse cultural / ethnic backgrounds. OTA, PTA, or Gerontology specialist an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Smoking is not permitted in the staff lounge/office areas or consumer's homes. Smoking areas are designated according to the policy of each building. No hazardous materials other than normal/usual household cleaning supplies are used. Private home materials and structures modified for wheelchair accessibility and mechanically supported personal lifting if required. Special equipment - computers, mechanical lifts, ventilators. Office/staff lounge is utilized by staff between booking assignments and meal breaks. Nucleus Independent Living has a scent-free environment policy.
