Position Title

Athletics PA Announcer (Hiring Year Round)

Position Summary

The Athletics department is hiring multiple positions with start dates throughout the year. Hours will be variable and dependent upon athletic game schedules. This posting will remain open until March 31, 2026 and review of applicants will be ongoing.



The PA Announcer is the main voice of the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens on game night. The PA Announcer's duties include playing music, announcing starting line-ups, all game action, public address announcements, presentations, contests, and other duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities

Meet with event leads in order to review schedules and exchange information about Game night happenings, additional events, national anthem performers, and starting lineups Read prepared scripts Review and announce crowd control procedures before the beginning of each event Inform patrons of coming events at a specific venue Improvise commentary on items of interest, such as background and history of an event or past records of participants Serve as master of ceremonies on game nights for Special Events Work with game night staff to ensure game night set up/take down sound systems and PA announcer tools Preview any music intended to be broadcast over the public address system for appropriate language and content. All music must be approved by supervisor

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent One to two years of public speaking experience

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of post-secondary training, preferably in Communications/Broadcasting

$20.30 per hour

Benefits and Compensation Information

An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
