Position Summary

This position supports in class computer lab and workshop activities for four on-site computing programs at Loyalist College: Computer Systems Technician, Cyber Security, Wireless Information Networking, and Computer Software Development & Design.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Applied Science, Computing and Technology, the Computer Systems Technician provides support for professors and students for the maintenance and troubleshooting of networking devices and servers, installation and upgrades of instructional computer software applications, provides in class support to students where applicable, and other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities

Set-up for student computer labs and workshops.
Maintaining isolated serves and networking devices in computer labs as assigned.
Facilitates and maintains a clean and orderly computer lab environment.
Ordering student instructional materials.
Maintaining inventory and purchasing records.
Maintaining Equipment logs and schedules.
Collaboration with IT services at various Loyalist sites.
Assists in design and planning of additional computer labs as required.
Other technical support duties related to the above-mentioned computer programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
------------------
Completion of a minimum of a two (2) year post secondary program in Computer Science, Electrical and Communications Engineering or equivalent.
Up to 1 year experience in installation and maintenance of Linux and other style servers and wireless networking devices as well as experience in Maintaining software installation and upgrades
Experience with Network Infrastructure, Routing, Switching, Intrusion and Security
Experience with Database Systems preferred
Experience with computer coding, and development
