JOB OVERVIEW



Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Information Systems Technician.



Reporting to the Senior Information Systems Supervisor, this position is responsible to provide technical and operational support to maintain efficient system operations in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations. This involves the installation, maintenance, modification and repair of computer and communications equipment and the development, testing and evaluation of computer programs and software packages.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Supporting computer related hardware systems such as laptops, desktop computers, docking stations, printers, displays, digital signage, telecommunications, network systems, audio visual systems, and streaming video cameras. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network malfunctions. Install, maintain, modify and repair computer and communications equipment. Frequently working inside the Nuclear environment which will require maintaining Nuclear related qualifications. Frequent travel between different OPG buildings, by walking as well as by vehicle. Regularly lifting and moving equipment on and off skids, shelving, walls or carts. Climbing step-ladders and operating manual lift-trucks to move skids. Provide technical and operational support and perform administrative activities to maintain efficient system operations. Give informal presentations with a view to sharing the most important or relevant new technical information obtained through attendance at manufacturers and suppliers training courses. Accountable for the health, safety and well-being of self and others, as per established technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.


QUALIFICATIONS


High School plus up to 2 years further concentrated study in relevant courses, or the equivalent education. Minimum of 5 years IT technical experience G Drivers License is required to operate department fleet vehicles. Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS Proficient in troubleshooting printer, hardware, software (e.g., Office O365, AutoCAD), and network issues. Experience with operating systems (e.g., Windows) and their configurations. Knowledge of computer networks, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and TCP/IP. Ability to install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and peripherals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues. Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Proficient in documenting technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
