Reporting to the Manager of Content and Localization, the Associate Manager of Korean Content is responsible for developing a best-in-class Korean content strategy that represents the SSENSE point of view while supporting various business goals. They will also lead the implementation and execution of strategies for our Korean channels. The ideal candidate will manage a growing, high-performing team of Translators and Editors, working collaboratively with other departments to discover, craft, edit and project manage the narratives that will be most relevant to our Korean-speaking customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Project Management - 40%

  • Manage and structure a growing team of Translators and Editors, ensuring consistent, on-time delivery of directional content that positions the brand as a leading voice in culture and fashion
  • Analyze team performance metrics and key performance indicators to identify potential efficiency improvements and determine solutions for at-risk areas
  • Supervise the progression of key projects from conception to completion, providing concept reviews and approvals as needed
  • Measure, track and report content results
  • Work closely with the Product, Sales, and other teams to support customer attraction, conversion and retention opportunities
  • Work closely with the Studio leadership team to enhance cross-team collaboration and execute departemental business strategies
  • Top-edit content that requires additional support or oversight to ensure quality standards are met
People Leadership & Development - 40%
  • Lead hiring efforts, conduct interviews, and build testing frameworks to attract and retain top talent
  • Recruit, manage and maintain a high-caliber roster of freelancers employed in peak production times to supplement full-time staff
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities to team members, catalyzing growth through coaching and team building
  • Hold weekly one-on-ones, conduct performance reviews, analyze individual key performance indicators and assess promotion readiness to help each contributor evolve in their roles
  • Ensure team mobilization by regularly gauging team spirit and implementing appropriate means to create a work environment that fosters healthy communication, collaboration and productivity
  • Design on-boarding and training programs for all levels of the team
Content Development & Innovation - 20%
  • Capture the distinct brand voice and values and implement content strategies across all platforms in Korean
  • Stay current on industry activities, new technologies, and best practices in content marketing for Korean-speaking consumers
  • Continuously audit and evaluate existing content, identifying gaps and proposing strategic opportunities for content development informed by a combination of intuition, data analysis and research
  • Help plan and conduct user testing to ensure the customer value of our initiatives
  • Ideate, write and conceptualize high-impact brand narratives that will drive return on investment and impact in terms of cultural relevance, as well as customer loyalty and engagement
  • Develop written Korean direction in line with art direction for ad hoc campaigns and projects
  • Design, lead and host creative workshops to challenge the teams in pitching, researching and developing ideas to support original content creation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Korean Literature, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Gifted storyteller with a minimum of 5 years experience writing and editing high-impact, conversion-driven content, ideally in an agency, publishing, media, luxury, or e-commerce environment
  • 2 years in a management position with direct reports
  • Strong grasp of fundamental business concepts, SEM, SEO, and content marketing strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of audience development, engagement and distribution strategies
  • Exceptional understanding of our brand values and how to develop the market-specific voice and messaging effectively
  • Mastery of Simplified Korean grammar, spelling, and usage including the ability to craft culturally-sensitive texts
