What you\'ll be doing

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world. To deliver on its vision to be our clients\xe2\x80\x99 preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services, both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported. The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world and also bring the world to Canada.

How you\xe2\x80\x99ll succeed

Research \xe2\x80\x93 As Research Associate the incumbent will work closely with Research Analyst covering companies in the Paper & Forest Products, Building Products and Packaging sectors which involves industry and company analysis. The Associate will learn and develop a depth of knowledge for financial analysis and about the capital markets. In the role, they will gain valuable experience in writing reports, developing and maintaining financial models, forecasting cash flow and earnings, researching companies and analyzing industry trends.

Client Focus - In the role, you will gain valuable experience in writing reports and producing presentations, developing and maintaining financial models in order to forecast company cash flow and earnings, analyzing industry trends and conducting channel checks with industry contacts. The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales, Trading, Investment Banking colleagues and clients as required.

Who you are

Education & Industry Experience. Preference is given to candidates who possess relevant experience and demonstrated interest in the capital markets industry through school courses, clubs and/or related work. Please include your cover letter, resume and transcripts (if recent graduate). Preference is also given to candidates who possess an undergraduate degree in Finance or business-related discipline.

Technical Skills. High proficiency knowledge of PC applications - specifically Excel. Working knowledge of financial software (i.e. Bloomberg, FactSet) is an asset

Collaborative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.

Detail Oriented. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment.
