Department Overview

TD Securities offers a wide range of capital markets products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients who choose us for our innovation, execution, and experience.

The Institutional Equities division of TD Securities provides equity sales, trading, research, underwriting and distribution from offices in Canada, the U.S. and the UK.

As an Associate in Equity Research, you will have an opportunity to work directly with an equity analyst on the daily publication of company and industry research reports. This position has a primary focus on the Banks and Insurance sectors. You will hone research skills, gain detailed understanding of the sectors covered and obtain insight into the institutional equity business.

Job Requirements

• Ability to work independently under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation
• Ability to research a topic from the ground up
• Strong work ethic, ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks
• Superior business writing skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills
• Excellent spreadsheet, quantitative and financial analysis skills
• Demonstrated interest in capital markets
• Service orientation and professional attitude - presentable to both internal and external clients
• Flexibility and ability to invest long hours as needed/required by business due to the nature of the role
• Experience analyzing Banks or Insurance companies would be an asset
• Current or prior experience in research roles in front office capital markets space would be of great asset

Educational Assets

• Strong preference for finance and business qualifications - must be comfortable working with financial statements
• Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, finance or mathematics
• Other designations such as CA/CPA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

Job Details

• Work closely with an analyst to develop an idea oriented research product
• Assist in the preparation of company and industry research reports (e.g. quarterly reporting initiatives, initiating coverage reports and marketing packages)

• Assist in the preparation of financial models to forecast quarterly and annual earnings, including maintaining and enhancing financial models and databases

• Interact with our Institutional Sales & Trading desk
• Compile and evaluate company and industry data

• Assist in the development of valuation tools
