Job Summary

WE seeks an Associate Director, Major Gifts. Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts this individual will oversee the implementation of strategy, responsible for building out an exceptional donor experience and cultivating opportunities at the MG level by managing a portfolio of new and existing donors. As a natural relationship builder, the Associate Director will identify, build and manage productive relationships with key stakeholders and Major Gift donors in order to secure financial support through donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

The position is based out of WE Charity\xe2\x80\x99s office in Toronto (339 Queen St. E).

Your Impacts:

  • Share director vision and drive activities to reach department and organizational goals
  • Manage a portfolio of 100 to 150 major gift donors with the capacity to make a gift of $100,000 CAD plus
  • Drive special executive level projects to develop pipeline, drive 360 engagement, and honor stakeholders
  • Proactively manage changes in strategy, devise contingency plans and communicate these to the appropriate parties
  • Monitor progress, milestones and priorities; track action items; identify process improvements
  • Set and continually manage expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Continuously liaise with other department Associate Directors and Directors to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Believes in creating and driving a culture of philanthropy and demonstrated success in a donor centred approach to fundraising
  • Travel domestic/internationally to support strategic donor opportunities for engagement, WE Days or international trip hosting
Responsibilities and Duties

Relationship Management:
  • Manage a portfolio of assigned major gift prospects and donors through the donor life cycle
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate & solicit at the major gift level
  • Maintain accuracy of all active donor files including all related donor record administration in Sales Force
  • When appropriate, work closely with other teams to assist with the strategic development and execution of cultivation and stewardship events and/or marketing initiatives to maximize donor engagement and advancement opportunities
  • Proactively identify prospective donors, carry out background research, and develop strategy
  • Attend and represent the organization at fundraising and networking events with the aim of identifying and building relationships with prospective donors and stakeholders
Stewardship and Retention:
  • Steward the engagement of major donors, ensuring a compelling donor experience and ongoing involvement with WE programming, both domestically and internationally
  • Develop strategic engagement with donors & prospects to increase retention, including deepened commitment where possible via engagement across WE platforms
  • Fulfill our commitments to stakeholders, seeing that all aspects are carried out, including preparing donor updates and reports
  • Provide support to third-party events and fundraisers hosted by stakeholders, including in-person attendance and public speaking
  • Ensure client satisfaction through responsiveness to inquiries, with prompt and effective problem-solving
Qualifications and Skills
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher, with a focus in fundraising or other applicable disciplines;
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising with a minimum of 2-3 years in a major gift fundraising capacity;
  • Proven ability to problem solve and multi-task during high-stress situations
  • Sound judgment, decision-making and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, highly organized, and demonstrated professionalism
  • Calm and confident demeanor, strong ability to develop rapport with families via phone, email, and in person
  • Personal values that match WE core values
  • Experience working with basic word processing (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) and CRM systems (Salesforce).
  • Has valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
