Summary

Reporting to the Director, Development, the Associate Development Director, Concessions is directly responsible for leading the development of Project Finance-related developments which are not traditional in nature. Some of these projects may be unsolicited bids. The Associate Director will develop a deep understanding of key markets and sectors for these projects, identify clients and appropriate projects. The Associate Director shall also have a thorough understanding of bidding and executing traditional P3 projects.

The Associate Director will have the ability to work across all types of major project-finance related pursuits; develop the strategy and capture plan for identified projects, work closely with the Graham design-build team leads and project partners during pursuits and may be asked to directly lead or represent Graham as a lead representative during bids. The Associate Director will take a leading tole in collaborating with other divisions to understand, strategize, and to procure projects over a multi-year time period. The Associate Director will execute the procurement strategy and bid approach, and act as the commercial lead for transactions, while liaising as directed with other partners and competitors in the market to understand strengths and weaknesses and where effective teaming strategies can be implemented.

Essential Functions

Execution

  • Develop deep understanding of key markets and sectors where there is a Project Finance need.
  • Develop a key client strategy to develop the relationships required to harvest the projects.
  • Develop partner and industry contacts and carry out deep research to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop the capture plan and assist in the development of teams to bid effectively on projects and win jobs for Graham to deliver.
  • Represent Graham in various project forums, including collaborative meetings and lender presentations.
  • Assist in providing input and direction on design, construction, schedule, or other delivery aspects during bid development.
  • Assist with the planning of Graham\'s strategy for developing the project finance asset portfolio with the leadership team.
  • Provide support to the Director Concessions as required.
Planning and Process
  • Understand the needs of the client and assist in building a team accordingly.
  • Ensure Graham is seen as a company that potential clients want to work with.
  • Engage with the infrastructure, buildings, and industrial teams to ensure the right processes are followed to put Graham in the best position to procure a project.
  • Ensure the correct planning has been done to successfully close a project.
  • Assist in the project commercial and technical negotiations with a client and consortium partners.
Financial Accountabilities
  • Assist with creating and maintaining bid budgets for project developments.
  • Make recommendations to ensure the project provides best-value for clients and that the elements that dictate this, such as cost-efficient design, are executed well throughout the development process.
  • Contribute at the highest level to Graham\xe2\x80\x99s balance sheet.
  • Client Focus
  • Assist with understanding the objectives of the client, as well as what is driving Graham\xe2\x80\x99s partners and competition.
  • Present bespoke development solutions directly to the client.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
  • A degree in business or engineering is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • Project management / director qualification is an asset.
  • Minimum 7-10 years relevant experience on projects up to $500M.
  • Experience with leading project finance developments as lead commercial director or senior manager from inception through to the delivery phase.
  • Deep understanding across several sectors of buildings, infrastructure, and industrial.
  • Established book of contacts across equity, developers, and construction.
  • Experience and knowledge of the long-term life cycle of a project, including preconstruction, estimating, design, financing, maintenance, and life cycle.
  • Good commercial acumen.
  • Good client focus.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with teams from different disciplines and backgrounds to contribute towards a winning team.
  • Knowledge of different procurement processes.
  • Understanding of the political landscape.
  • Knowledge of the approach of competitors.
  • Thorough understanding of contract approaches across the market.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Excel, project management software, and collaboration software.
