Position Title: Associate Dean, Journalists & Writers

Status: Full-time Admin

Hours: 37.5/wk

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Media & Creative Arts

Campus/Location: Lakeshore Campus

Salary: Hiring Range $121,455.00 - $151,819.00

What you will do:

Under the direction of the Senior Dean, Faculty of Media & Creative Arts, the Associate Dean works collaboratively with the Senior Dean and other members of the administration in the development and implementation of the Faculty\xe2\x80\x99s strategic initiatives as part of the college\xe2\x80\x99s academic plan. The

incumbent provides academic and administrative leadership, supervision and direction to the faculty, managers, support staff and students in the Journalists & Writers cluster of the Faculty. They also provide academic leadership and management within the areas of emerging technologies and applied

research in the programs included in their portfolio. The Associate Dean ensures that the objectives of the programs are attained through effective supervision of teaching and learning; facilitates the on-going development, review and renewal of programs to reflect current and future market changes,

employment needs of industry, and partnerships with industry and community for emerging trends and technologies affecting the field. The Associate Dean also supports in a variety of capacities the development of applied research and community outreach initiatives. This will involve leading

academics in the Faculty by working closely with colleagues at Humber College and other academic institutions to further enhance and expand upon existing links and collaborations with academic and industrial and community partners - as part of establishing Humber College as a world leader in this

area.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master\'s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant academic discipline.

Experience

A minimum of 9 years of combined industry and academia experience is required.

Skills

Demonstrated competence in advanced college-level curriculum development.

Demonstrated experience working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments, and you have effective and creative ways to further develop multi-disciplinary approaches to teaching and learning.

Experience championing the strategic use of technology to enhance learning, improve the flexible delivery of college courses, and expand access to post-secondary education.

Proficiency with program and schedule planning and evaluation.

Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and work experience in fields relevant to the cluster and/or Faculty programming.

Knowledge of broader social, employment and economic contexts as it relates to existing and potential course offerings of the Faculty is essential.

Demonstrated commitment to inter-professional education and collaboration within the Faculty and college community.

Administrative or leadership experience at the college level for the purpose of developing and managing budgets, administration of policies and procedures, and management of human resources.

Excellent listening skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.

Computer literacy and experience with software to support teaching, research, and administrative activities.
