The Faculty of Business & Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Networking and IT. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on January 1, 2024.

Applicants shall possess a university degree in Networking and IT Systems or a similar field, Industry networking certifications and / or a graduate degree are strongly desired. The ideal candidate will bring experience with several of the following: Networking (basic to advanced), Software Defined Networking, System and Network Administration, Computer Architecture, Secure Software Systems, Cryptography and Secure Communications, Access Control, IT Forensics, and DevOps. In addition to relevant industrial experience, teaching experience, and experience in online and hybrid course delivery is an asset.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University\'s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s).

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year.

The Faculty offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce and in Information Technology, with specializations in Networking and Security, Game Development and Interactive Media, and Technology Management. We offer the Master of IT Security (MITS) degree with an Artificial Intelligence focus. MSc and PhD programs in Computer

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the teaching, research and outreach activities of our Institute for Cybersecurity and Resilient Systems https://icrs.ontariotechu.ca/ as well as in industry-based capstone projects in the Master of IT Security program.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
