Established in 1990, Bradford Progress Childcare Centres has grown to include 4 full-service daycare locations and 11 on-site before-and-after school programs in Bradford and the surrounding area. We will require a Full Time Assistant Supervisor/Preschool Teacher for our Tec Beeton site. We are looking for an individual who can assist in leading a team of child care staff in the absence of the supervisor to offer exceptional care in the community and maintain the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
ROLE SUMMARY
In the absence of the supervisor you will oversee the day to day operations of the Day Care Centre within the Policies and Procedures set by the Board of Directors; including that the program meets/exceeds all licensing requirements (specifically ensuring ratios are maintained) and fulfills the goals and objectives of the organization. The Assistant supervisor will act as a guide for the Before and After School Program.
The Assistant Supervisor role is a full-time position and the candidate will be expected to work on site daily. Must be able to work an opening or closing shift but will be required to work a closing shift daily when the supervisor is present.

1. Operational Responsibilities
in the absence of the supervisor
Maintains both children's and program records.
Processes enrollment of children and is aware of licensed capacity, staff ratios and administrative details (registration forms, medical records and permission forms.)
Establishes and updates children's records including attendance.
Establishes and reviews communication and log books daily, monitoring consistent use by staff.
Trains all new staff on any child's individual plans and sleep requirements
Ensures medication is documented properly and administered according to policy.
Reviews menu plans ensuring nutritional needs of children are being met.
Orders lunches from the caterer and works with the catering company to make sure all special dietary requirements are met.
Conducts monthly fire drills.
2. Program Responsibilities
Ensure the program offered meets the philosophical goals of the Centre.
Evaluates each program on a regular basis in co-operation with the teaching staff.
Acts as a resource to staff in planning program experiences to support each child's physical, social, emotional, language, creative and cognitive development.
Observes and participates in daily routines and activities regular in each classroom.
3. Staff Responsibilities
Ensures all staff understand and implements all policies and procedures of the agency and legislative requirements of the government.
Provides billing sheets for program to the Financial Administrator no later than the 10th day of each month for the following month.
Ensures all changes to child enrolment and billing are correct and submitted to the Financial Administrator as soon as possible.
Maintains all staff records of attendance on a regular basis and submits such records bi-weekly with payroll to the Assistant Executive Director
Ensures that each staff member understands and accepts the philosophy of the Centre and is willing to work to achieve the goals of the Centre.
Ensures the teaching staff work in a co-operative manner.
Ensures ongoing supervision of all staff including teaching staff, assistant teaching staff, housekeeping staff, dietary staff, student teachers and volunteers.
Provides orientation, directions, and instruction to all staff (students and volunteers) as required to ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsible for the effectiveness of the classroom teachers within their job descriptions
Monitors, motivates, and builds morale - develops good communication and takes time to discuss concerns, problems, and strengths.
Keeps staff well informed of any changes affecting the program.
Appoints a designate in the event of absence either before or after you scheduled shift. You must be on site in the absence of the supervisor.
Provides staff support for emotional and physical health.
Acts as a liaison between staff, parents, and children.
Establishes a timetable and schedule to ensure sufficient staff during all phases of operation.
Ensure all staff perform their responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
Delegates and shares in light housekeeping duties.
4. Parental Responsibilities
Meets all new parents enrolling their children in the Centre and reviews the Parent Handbook (policies and procedures), introduces staff, and provides a tour of the Centre.
Ensures that parents are accepted into the Centre in a manner that is non-judgemental and accepting of cultural needs.
Develops and maintains a relationship of 'partnership' with parents; interacts with parents through daily greetings, formal interviews, and group meetings.
Prepares and distributes monthly newsletters.
Prepares and distributes letters to parents as necessary with approval from the program manager.
Acts as a liaison between staff, parents, and children; arranges parent/program staff meetings and interviews as requested by either parent or staff.
Acts as a resource to parents in all matters that relate their child.
Is accessible to the parents. Returns all parent calls ASAP.
Refer parents to Program Manager for further reference/clarification if necessary.
5. Financial Responsibilities
Purchases supplies and equipment as required within budgetary limits.
Maintains accurate petty cash that is left in your charge
Maintains attendance records for children and staff.
Reports payroll information to the Assistant Executive Director as requested.
6. Community and Professional Responsibilities
Keeps abreast of current trends and issues in the Early Learning and Childcare Field and takes advantage of professional development opportunities.
Acts as a mentor and role model for staff members and community at large.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to the mission of supporting families and offering exceptional programs with supportive leadership and integrity
Leadership skills
a minimum 2 years of RECE experience
Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Mandatory)
Knowledge of Early Childhood Education requirements, including the Child Care Early Years Act 2014, and effective program delivery.
Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and two years minimum classroom experience as an RECE.
