About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Site Superintendent to support the successful execution of our 49-unit mixed-use condominium project in Cook Street Village, Victoria.
This role is critical in ensuring construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project timelines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Coordination & Supervision
Assist the Site Superintendent in managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring work progresses according to schedule.
Monitor trade contractors and ensure all work aligns with project drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
Help coordinate deliveries, materials, and equipment to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
Maintain site cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with BC Building Code and project specifications.
Ensure all trades adhere to site safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Identify and address potential hazards, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel.
Participate in safety meetings and contribute to job site risk assessments.
Scheduling & Communication
Support the Site Superintendent in scheduling trades and coordinating subcontractor activities.
Assist with reviewing and updating construction schedules to ensure milestones are met.
Communicate effectively with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to resolve issues proactively.
Document site progress, deficiencies, and changes, reporting to the Site Superintendent regularly.
Documentation & Reporting
Assist in preparing daily reports, tracking work progress, and identifying potential delays.
Maintain and organize site records, drawings, and permits.
Support change order reviews and work alongside the project management team to ensure accurate documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
3+ years of construction experience, preferably in multi-unit residential or mixed-use projects.
Diploma or certification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and safety regulations.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and ability to travel to the Victoria project site as required.
