About the Position:
Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Assistant Site Superintendent is a member of the construction team, responsible for supporting the execution of the project plan on site. They will support the Site Superintendent in overseeing the daily coordination of trade activities on site, including the implementation and day-to-day oversight of the site safety program, in addition to a variety of daily tasks required to execute the project safely and successfully.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Be a positive Project Teammate on site, maintaining a visible and engaged presence on site.
• Be a Champion of Carrington Construction Safety Program, completing daily hazard assessments, and assisting in weekly site inspections.
• Complete sub-trades site safety orientations, ensure daily safety documentation is completed and submitted by all project team members.
• Assist in the preparation of look ahead scheduling and distribution to trade contractors.
• Participate in site meetings, mock up reviews and site reviews, to assist with coordination and documentation from these events as directed by the Site Superintendent
• Work closely with the Project Site Superintendent daily to ensure the site operates effectively.
• Assist in the documentation and maintenance of the daily log of construction site operations.
• Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance.
• Respond to onsite issues and emergencies.
• Provide backup leadership to the Superintendent, particularly when they are away from site, appropriately operating as eyes, ears, and voice of the organization.
• Ensure site security is maintained through out project.
• Perform ongoing reviews of trade work completing Carrington MPI documentation ensuring that scopes conform to Project Quality Plan.
• Maintain Project Site cleanliness, from debris, garbage, snow removal, sweeping and other required work to maintain a clean, safe and productive work environment.
• Operate telehandler or bobcat to assist with loading and unloading of materials as required.
• Perform carpentry and general labour duties as needed.
• Construction and Maintenance of equipment and structures required to complete the work, including hording, heaters, fuel lines, safety barricades and
• General construction duties: apply silicone, adjust doorways and doors, fix cabinets and flooring.
• Transport building materials to and from the site, including moving extra material (framing material, finishing material, etc.) into storage.
• Responsible for checking and ensuring the entire site are secure at the end of the day.
• Assists site superintendent to perform site visit, pre-occupation/possession and/or post possession walk-through.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED, supported by a Journeyman Carpenter Trade Certification preferred.
• Seven (7) years of experience working on multi-family or commercial construction sites contributing directly to the work.
• Three (3) or more years of previous experience as a foreman or assistant site superintendent on multi-family or commercial construction projects preferred.
• Experience operating bobcats, lifts & zoom-booms is required.
• Thorough understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts is required.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints required.
• Intermediate knowledge of framing required to perform minor framing duties such as installing wood stairs, landing, and railing.
• Knowledge of various trades required in general house construction.
• First Aid, Fall Protection Training, and other safety training desired.
• Basic understanding of employment and safety legislation.
• A valid class five (5) driver's license and personal reliable transportation is required.
• Criminal Records Check to the company's satisfaction is required.
• A clean drivers abstract is required for the operation of company vehicles on public roadways.
• Manual dexterity is required to work with tools and equipment.
