Assistant Professor, Tenure-track in StatisticsApplications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The area of particular interest is Data Science with a focus on Computational Statistics and Machine Learning. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vibrant externally funded research program which complements the departmental research activities in Statistics, collaborate effectively with researchers within and beyond the department, teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses in Statistics, mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the areas of academics and research development, supervise graduate students, develop curricula through needs assessment, and be strongly committed to providing service to the department, college, university, and statistical communities.The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics, or a related discipline, from a reputable institution. We are seeking candidates who have a strong research record, evidenced by established or developing research initiatives and publications in prestigious professional journals, and who have demonstrated effective classroom teaching skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and collegiality. Evidence of the ability to attract external grant funding will be considered an asset. Evidence of professional service or outreach to statistical communities at the university-level will also be considered an asset. The specific teaching needs of the Department will be taken into account in the decision-making process.The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Statistics. In addition, we offer graduate programs in Biostatistics in collaboration with the School of Public Health and the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. Key research interests of the faculty in Statistics include biostatistics, bioinformatics, survival and longitudinal data analysis, missing data and measurement error problems, lattice models of polymers, probability and stochastic processes, machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum information.
