Job Summary:
The
Assistant
Production Manager (APM)
reports to the Supervising Producer and works closely with the Production Manager to oversee production logistics in prep, on set, and for wrap.
In prep, the APM is the point of contact for transpo, gear requests, locations and scouts, and permits. On set, the APM is often the first in and/or last out. They will support the shifting needs of production, help problem solve as needed, and oversee gear load in/out. The APM will also support the Supervising Producer to ensure our health and safety standards are upheld. During wrap, the APM will lead CFC gear inventory as well as coordinate rental drop off schedules, manage equipment drop-offs/pick-ups, and support the Production Manager with financial reconciliation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Participating in production meetings and helping to support and execute on all production plans working in tandem with the Supervising Producer, PM & Resident Producers as relevant
Attending location and technical scouts and handling location considerations with PM & Supervising Producer
Providing hands-on prep and production-related support to the filmmaking teams as required by the SP & PM, ensuring that crew, locations, supplies and equipment needs are in place for each production, and providing help where needed to producers
Working with CFC Residents and On-set Reps, as needed, to deliver on production schedules for all CFC shoots.
Tracking and Monitoring the CFC's in-house production equipment, including cameras, monitors, sound kits, etc., and anticipating the technical needs of each production exercise and showcase projects to ensure that all equipment is available, properly signed in/out and maintained
Supporting additional gear requests with suppliers as directed by the SP and PM.
Managing the transport schedule as it relates to gear pick-ups and other production needs
Inventory craft and location supplies and coordinate purchases as needed so production is well stocked
Scheduling and supporting camera, G&E,and sound gear prep with vendors and/or at the CFC
Preparing ACTRA contracts, permits, deal memos, timesheets and remittance forms
Supporting the creation of applications to ESA, AOS and more.
Creating Purchase Orders and providing accounting support under supervision of PM
Working closely with keys and providing direction as needed to the crew.
Responsible for supporting the On-set Reps as needed to ensure that CFC sets are operating in a safe and professional manner, according to industry standards and according to CFC COVID protocols
Ensuring quality control of footage and audio on the day; Working closely with the Post Production Manager to ensure the proper delivery of footage and that any elements of production which affect post have been communicated and approved in advance of shoot
Updating the Supervising Producer & Production Manager on the productions throughout the day with special attention paid to our healthy and safety requirements; Managing incident reports if necessary
Maintaining a professional/inclusive experience and work processes throughout production
Working closely with the PM and SP to wrap the productions and manage gear inventory
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years related on-set production experience in film/tv production
Has built a strong crew network and strong relationships within the industry
Has excellent knowledge of industry best practices and is passionate about the production process
Understanding of basic production gear packages (camera, G&E, and sound), and technical needs for film production
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Exceptional attention to detail and thrives on multitasking, problem solving, meeting deadlines and working under pressure

Valid Driver's License
First Aid Training an asset
Knowledge of Google Workplace, Salesforce, Asana and Microsoft suite an asset
