Job Description

The Production Manager works with a team to produce quality cuts of meat and other products for our food service and retail customers while following safe food handling rules and practices.

Accountability: Production Team Management:



Continual communication with Senior Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, supervisors and employees to ensure quantity and quality of food produced at the facility

Implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality and ensure continuous improvement of production and sanitation processes and procedures

Problem solve using knowledge, skills and functional expertise to develop workable solutions that align with general precedents and practices of the company and food safety

Propose solutions and new ideas to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of an operation/task and overcome challenges

Assist with the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures and equipment hazard analysis to achieve the objectives established at corporate level

Establish, maintain and document productivity standards (i.e. how much labor/time is required to make a particular product)

Monitor productivity and help develop and implement necessary action plans to increase productivity

Monitor and update all area practices and policies for compliance

Functional Supervision: Delegate and review work of others within the department

Develop high performing work teams within department through coaching, training, and engaging team members through effective and ongoing communications of production changes.

Accountability: Inventory



Oversee inventory levels to ensure sufficient supplies for production

Monitor and ensure optimum levels of products are produced

Determine where product should be allocated once has been received ( production/frozen)

Determine product that may be used for production based on dates and requirements

Oversee inventory to ensure best before dates are monitored and the appropriate action is taken

Other duties as may be assigned

Accountability: Meat Cutting and Processing



Inspect meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes and remove them along with any excess fat, trim to Prairie Meats specifications

Organize and facilitate production line activities to ensure conformance to establish requirements regarding quality, safety, productivity

Oversee the processing of primal parts into cuts that are ready for retail, manufacturing, or further processing

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure successful and efficient completion

Reliable

Knowledge, Experience and Education



High school or GED equivalent

Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in food industry

Experience in a leadership role is a requirement

Basic knowledge of various types of meat products
