Job Overview
The Meat Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the meat department within a grocery store or food retail environment. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of meat operations, including inventory management, staff supervision, and ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in meat handling and preparation, and possess excellent customer service skills.
Duties
• Supervise and train staff in meat cutting, packaging, and food preparation techniques.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the meat department.
• Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock to minimize waste.
• Assist customers with inquiries regarding meat products and provide recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Develop promotional displays to drive sales and attract customers to the meat department.
• Perform regular quality checks on all meat products to ensure freshness and adherence to safety standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special events or promotions involving meat products.
Skills
• Proficient in food handling practices, with a strong understanding of food safety regulations.
• Experience as a butcher or in a similar role within the food industry is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation methods.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills for managing inventory and staff schedules.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment used for meat processing and preparation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$29.99 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
