Job Overview


Tsartlip Fuel & Convenience seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting store operations, managing staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. This position offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills within a fast-paced retail environment, contributing to the overall success and growth of the store. The Assistant Manager will be instrumental in driving sales, maintaining merchandising standards, fostering a positive team culture, and building strong relationships with Tsartlip First Nations band members, and surrounding communities.

Duties



Assist in daily operational tasks, including opening and closing procedures, cashier responsibilities, sales of lotto, Status and non-status fuel and tobacco. Supervise and motivate staff to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales goals. Oversee merchandising efforts, ensuring product displays are attractive and aligned with company standards. Manage POS systems, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities accurately. Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new employees. Assist with payroll processing, scheduling, and training & development initiatives for team members. Monitor inventory levels, assist with purchasing decisions, and pricing strategies. Implement marketing initiatives to promote store products and special events. Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and store procedures. Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels. Maintain organizational records including bookkeeping, budgeting support, and administrative documentation. Assist with monthly charge account invoicing.

Skills



Strong leadership abilities with supervising experience in retail or similar environments. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in marketing strategies and implementation. Experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Knowledge of merchandising, pricing strategies, and retail sales techniques. Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff. Familiar with budgeting, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks with good math skills. Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently. Solution focused with strong problem solving ability. Demonstrated ability to lead teams through coaching and motivating staff for optimal performance. Strong customer service orientation with professional etiquette and interpersonal skills. This role is ideal for a proactive individual eager to advance their career in retail management while contributing positively to our team environment. Experience working within First Nations community preferred.

Position



This position includes primarily evening and weekend shifts. Preference given to First Nations, Metis, and Inuit applicants
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
