Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Scotiabank Newsroom in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Digital content publishing:
o Work closely with newsroom team to prepare content for online publication on Perspectives, including entry into online content management system (CMS)
o Photo selection and editing
o Manages all content updates on Perspectives
o Coordinating with internal partners on online publication
o Managing translation and publication of stories on French version of website
  • Social media management:
o Writing/editing social media copy
o Creating accompanying creative assets
o Advise on timing, approach of posts based on content, platform users and style
o Post on internal platforms and external social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn), working with social media team
o Help co-ordinate paid promotion of external social media posts, track execution and budget
  • Monitoring and analytics:
o Monitor and track content
o Create regular analytics reports to measure traffic and engagement on website
o Leverage insights to make recommendations
  • Content creation
o Creating infographics for use with stories or as standalone content
o Occasional writing for the Perspectives page
  • Online publishing (as needed)
o Working with internal partners to improve/update the Perspectives page, troubleshoot issues if needed
o Manage requests for updates and changes to Scotiabank.com
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Dimensions
  • This role is expected to help the team produce a steady stream of content, with an expected range of two to three per week of different types and complexity
  • Countries / regions / business units supported: Content supporting Scotiabank Brand, and internal groups (i.e. Economics, Canadian Banking, International Banking), Globally
  • Financial dimensions (e.g., capital budget, annual project cost, operating budget, etc.): this role will be expected to work within budgets provided by Editor-in-Chief
  • Audience: Content produced will be available to all internal employees, existing customers, and potential customers
Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
  • Experience in a corporate communications role in a complex, high-visibility, high-pressure, fast-paced and knowledge-based environment an asset
  • Strong PC skills
o Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
o Good knowledge of Adobe suite of programs including Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience posting content to the Web and familiarity with SEO concepts
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with the use of social media to amplify content
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and relationship management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Capability of working in a complex and fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail, and high-level of accountability for the quality and timely completion of projects
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues and determine the nature of the response required
Working Conditions
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited/moderate/extensive (update as appropriate) travel domestically/internationally/globally (update as appropriate).
