Red Deer Regional Health Center has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) in their Adult Psychiatry Unit! The AHN is a pivotal front line Management Role which provides clinical direction to multidisciplinary team of staff that treat patients experiencing mental health crisis. The AHN is required to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and management, other departments within RDRHC, community of Red Deer and rural sites within Central Zone. In this role you can expect a variety of experiences and work within a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical leadership, direction supervision and mentoring to other professionals and unregulated staff. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment, and clinical experience and exemplary communication skill will be essential to making you successful in this role. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
