Your Opportunity:

Assistant Head Nurse - Registered Nurse - Unit 21 is a 36-bed Surgical Orthopedic/Urology unit. The AHN Position requires a self-motivated and highly reliable RN with the ability to problem solve independently. The AHN must have the ability to maintain standards and take the initiative to improve patient care. The successful candidate will proactively take responsibility for maintaining competence through professional development activities. This individual will also: Have a strong interest in patients requiring Orthopedic, Urologic, and Surgical Nursing Care and can work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide family-focused Nursing care. Demonstrate flexibility with assignments, ability to critically think, and anticipate challenges initiating effective solutions.

Description:

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous or charge nurse experience. Minimum of 5 years of surgical nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications:

High level of independence and the flexibility to adapt to new environments. A strong interest in patients requiring Orthopedic and Urological related Nursing care. Demonstrated responsibility for maintaining competence through professional development. Baccalaureate Degree.
